Foreword
Lo/Lu Family Tree
Lo is the Cantonese pronunciation while Lu or Loo is the same last name pronounced in Mandarin. The original story is in Chinese and contains some descriptions of twenty five generations. The English version is a simplified translation of the original text in Chinese. However if one wants more detail information the Chinese version has all the contents as it was created by the original author(s) and all the up dates as recorded by subsequent generations. The “The Tree” section presents pages of flow diagrams detailing the generational time line from about 1265 to the present time, Gen./Tree /Gallery Index. The rather complex Chinese calendar has been converted to Western calendar to make it easier to comprehend. Kar-Leung Lo (1887/1961) of the 23rd generation made a copy of this book , listed here under, The Story, in 1948 from another copy made in 1847 from the original copy in Kin-Fok aka Ye-Kai Lo’s (1615/1678) Library of the 14th generation. The accuracy of the time line should be within one year. In the latter part of “The Tree” section, the structure broke away from the traditional manner of keeping only the sons’ side of the family and has included many cousins with different last names. Some photographs of family members have also been included for the interest of the present and future generations.
In Sun Yat-Sen’s memorial hall in Zhong Shan 中山, there is a display showing the wives of Sun. His first wife came from our neighboring village, her name is Lu Mu-Zhen 盧慕貞 (1867-1952), she was one of our great grand aunts. During my most recent trip to Bei Shan Village 北山村 in the City of Zhuhai 珠海市, in November of 2010, it was also my very first visit ever, I got to see our Ancestral House 祖屋, the Mausoleum as well as our Ancestral Temple 祖族祠堂. Many links including recent pictures of people, maps showing the location of Bei-Shan Village and both the Chinese and English version of Lu Mu-Zhen’s story have been added to the Gallery/Bios/Stories . A section on the History of China has also been added to show the time line of our Family Tree and to provide an over all view of thousands of years of history from the Paleolithic era to present.

Winston Li’s encouragement on starting this project is acknowledged. Special thanks go to Ian Tam who made a special trip to Bei Shan Village to look for contacts for us to locate the Lo brothers who still reside in the village.
